Summer Camp
Our summer camp blends guided group activities with a range of outdoor activities set up for exploration and play, gently encouraging children to try new things, take on challenges and grow in confidence outdoors.
The camp is led by Ross and Fanni, who are both British-trained primary teachers and have several years of teaching experience. Ross is a native English speaker and is also a qualified Forest School Leader. We provide a safe and supportive environment where children can enjoy meaningful time outdoors and follow their curiosity.
Building confidence, independence and a love of the natural world through outdoor play, exploration and exposure to native English.
Growing in Confidence
At Forest School, children develop far more than practical outdoor skills. Through time spent exploring, playing, and working together in nature, your child will have opportunities to:
- Grow in confidence and self-belief
- Develop independence
- Learn to assess and manage risk in a supported way
- Try new things and develop a growth mindset
- Build teamwork and social skills
- Connect with friends and the natural world
What to Expect
Each day has a clear and familiar flow, balancing shared group challenges with time for children to explore and choose their own activities across our Forest School site.
A Typical Day:

- Closing circle to reflect on the day together
Activities to Explore
Exploration time puts the children in charge! During this time, the children can choose from a range of activities set up across the site and follow their own interests in play and discovery.
Activities will include:
- Nature-inspired crafts, such as using clay and natural materials to create clay faces on tree trunks
- Learning to safely use hand tools such as hammers, bow saws and drills
- Learning to safely light fires*
- Den building
- Muddy play in the mud kitchen
- Wet play at the water trough
- Rope play with a slack line, rope swing and hammock
- Nature investigation with magnifying glasses, nature guides, binoculars and a trail camera with night vision!
* Fire ban permitting
Language
The summer camp is dual language - English and Hungarian
Sessions are delivered in both languages and children do not need to be learning English to attend. Ross is a native English speaker and together we create an environment that supports natural language exposure through songs, games, conversation, and shared activity – whether children are English-speaking, Hungarian-speaking or both.
The summer camp takes place at our Forest School woodland, next to Mészkő Park, Óbuda (District III), Budapest.
This green haven sits just above the much-loved park. It provides a welcoming and easily accessible natural space where children can explore, play, and learn through hands-on experience.

Age and Group Size
The camp is suitable for children aged 4 to 8 years old.
Activities are designed to be inclusive and adaptable, with children supported in ways that suit their age and level of experience.
Small group sizes are an important part of our Forest School approach, giving children space to explore independently while ensuring adults are nearby to guide, support, and extend their learning when needed.
The maximum group size for the camp is 14 children with two adults. The camp will only run if the minimum number of participants is met.
Lunch, two snacks and drinks are provided throughout the day and are included in the camp fee.
Shared mealtimes are an important part of the Forest School experience, giving children a chance to pause, connect with others and enjoy eating together as part of the group.
